Notes

Double phoenix wing planned, joined in the middle. Black base color with birkenrinde “feathers”? Cas wings.

Blocking now. Pretty sure I used size 2.5 (addi turbo size 2) needles for this, but damn if I can remember exactly.

From my tumblr:

It is all short rows, basically. It’s two Phoenix Wings with improvised short rows in the middle. When I started each phoenix wing, I did a provisional cast on. When they were both done, I picked up all the stitches, bound off a little bit to get the end feathers, and marked the middle.

I then did short rows starting with two stitches around the middle marker and increasing by two stitches with every wrap-and-turn. I did that until I was about 18 stitches away from the end (9 on each side, I think), and then continued short rows where I was increasing by one after each wrap-and-turn.

It’s really big. I tried it on a bit before blocking it out, and basically I wrap the middle bit around my bust and the wings over each shoulder and around my back. We’ll see how it works when it’s all done.
