I was able to spin 361.97 yards from 5.93oz of combed cat fur, November 2012.
The scarf was about 6’ long, going from the belly button, looping loosely around the neck and going back to the belly button. I did not have to ply the catgora with any other fiber and was even able to make a doily in addition to the scarf (out of the same pattern)
From Angela (who contacted me through Instructables.com):
I heard that you could turn cat fur into yarn, so I researched it on the web and saw an article about you. I had been saving my cat Max’s fur for two years. I had to put him to sleep yesterday after a long battle with lymphoma. I am ready do do something with his fur, but I am not having much success in finding someone to convert it to yarn. There are some companies on the web but, they do not make it easy to contact them for instructions on how to proceed. One company that actually had a working web site indicated by a calendar on how booked they were with orders but left things hazy about turn around time. This is the reason for my contacting you, I was wondering if you did this service for the public. I am just trying to get the yarn made so I can proceed from there. If you can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
