Notes

finished photos from Florence - four scarves debut at dinner on our first night…and mine shows up again at dinner on our last night.
______________
planning four of these scarves - one for each of us to enjoy on our stay in Florence to celebrate Sara’s college graduation (in May 2014)

Francie’s is first and I’m knitting it in Claudia’s Poppy. Then Sue’s in Claudia’s Whisper. Sara’s is Maggi’s Linen in pale pink and mine’s last (Quince&Co Kestrel in Urchin).

summary sizes/stitch counts/needles
Claudia’s linen (2 skeins) - followed pattern as written; ~ 16x76
Maggies Linen (~4 skeins) - 50 st on size 10-1/2; ~ 16 x 82
Kestrel (5.65 skeins - there was a knot at that point and I didn’t want more ends to finish); 42 st on size 11; ~ 13x76

5-6-14 - nothing like finishing at the last minute; we leave tomorrow! finished the kestrel by weaving in the ends (duplicate stitch) for a few inches and then unraveling the ribbon to get a piece of thread; put that on a sharp needle and whip-stitched the end and then secured that end to a stitch in the scarf (it didn’t take that long and I feel really secure about laundering it going forward, knowing that those ends are sewn down).

now all are blocked and nearly dry. I washed in the machine on delicate with some soak and then tumbled dry for about 10 minutes on low; scarves were damp dry. Inserted wires down one edge and pinned; would’ve used wires on both edges, but I didn’t have enough wires!

5-4-14 - finished the knitting (whew!). hoping to get some direction on weaving in/finishing the ends on the kestrel. and then have to block all 4 scarves.

4-27-14 - finished Sara’s and started mine. sprint to the finish line! Kestrel. 42 stitches on size 11 needle.

4-20-14 - finished Sue’s and cast-on Sara’s (Maggi’s Linen). 50 stitches on size 10-1/2 needle.

4-4-14 - finished Francie’s (except for weaving in ends and blocking; will do that for all 4 scarves at the end); started Sue’s.

3-20-14 - nearly done with the first skein on Francie’s.
