I’m a size EU52/UK24/US20
Total neck sts: 75
Back sts: 25 (+2) (+4 for wide CO)
Sleeve sts: 6 (+2) (+4 for wide CO)
Increase sts: 8 (fixed number)
Front sts: 30
Right front sts: 7
Left front sts: 7
Center front sts: 16
Cuff sts: 34
Adding 6 sts to underarms.
For reference
- Added vertical bust dart for width to the sweater to avoid lumpy shoulders and allow for proper fitting using this pattern.
- CO provisional for neckband (shoulder sts and back sts - front sts are added later and will have to be picked up)
- Created a wider neckband by adding 4 stitches per section (back stitches +4, each sleeve stitches +4)
- Make sure sts are divisible by 4 when picking up the front sts later on.
Gauge:
10cm/4” = 19 sts (4.75 sts per inch)
20 sts = 10.7cm
Bust dart
7” difference between above bust and around bust.
4.75 sts * 7” = 33.25, rounding up to 34 stitches.
Add 17 sts width to each side.
After putting sleeve sts on holder, I knit about 5cm/2” before starting bust dart. (Next time I will stick to 3cm/1”, it’s not bad right now but it is slightly low.)
Started with: sm, k1, m1r, pm, k to 1 st before m, pm, m1l, k1, sm.
I moved the markers around so I’d always know where to increase without having to count. It did require moving the markers around a bit but it saved me a lot of time.
Next rnd, sm, k2, remove marker, k1, m1r, pm, (you now have 4sts between the markers) k to 1st before marker, m1l, k1, remove marker, slip 2 sts back onto left needle, pm marker, slip sts back onto right needle, k2, sm. Essentially you always want an even number between the markers (in this case 4) including the new created stitch.
Repeat with k5, k7, etc.
Worked until I hit k33 in the increases, then decreased in the same fashion.
sm, k until 3 sts before marker, ssk, k1, remove marker, slip knitted stitch onto left needle, pm, slip stitch back to right needle, k until marker, remove marker, k1, pm, k2tog, k until marker, sm.
Knit until only 2 sts are left between the sidemarker and the dart marker and ssk/k2tog, then remove dart marker.
Waist shaping:
After bust darts are completed, knit about 2.5cm/1”, then start decreasing with 2 sts on each side marker every 5 rows, 3 times
k to 3 sts before m, ssk, k1, sm, k1, k2tog
Knit about 5cm even, then add about 20cm width for the hips by increasing 2 stitches per side marker every 4-5 rows, 10 times.
k to 1 st before m, m1r, k1, sm, k1, m1, repeat for other side
Sleeves:
Start at the center of armpit, pick up 6 sts, pick up sts from waste yarn, then pick up remaining 6 sts, join in the round.
k approx 16 rounds then start decreasing: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1
Decrease again approx 18 rounds later. Then decrease every 6 rnds.
