We are currently wintering in Vero Beach, Florida and plan to begin our journey north to Lake Champlain on our sailboat in just a few weeks. It will be nice to have this sweater to throw on when we experience cooler evenings.
I like how the look and feel of the Suzette Stitch works up using a 6.0 mm hook than I do with the 6.5 mm hook. So I decided I would follow the directions for the M/L to get the correct width and height for tension in order to achieve my desired size.
Starting chain 105.
Rectangle width = 39” slightly stretched.

RIBBING: I worked 215 HDC stitches along the collar and am completing HDC in the 3rd loop for each row. This adds a nice little “braid” on each side of the fabric, so that when I roll the collar down you will see the texture from both sides.

SLEEVES: Using my 5.5 mm hook, I worked my sleeves directly onto the cardigan. Saves a step or two.
Joined yarn at the seam and worked 36 sc around the sleeve opening. Ch 33. Worked 32 HDC, anchored with 2 sl sts along edge, ch1, work SC 3rd Loop out toward wrist edge and repeat until completed. I slip stitched sleeve together.
The sleeve portion closest to wrist is a bit wide. I will overlap this area and add a little button strap to get a better fit. Or, I may just add the button. Not sure yet..
SLEEVE UPDATE:
I wasn’t happy with how wide the wrist area was on my first (left) sleeve, but before frogging, I worked the right sleeve to see if I could get a better fit. SUCCESS!
Here’s what I did:
36 SC worked around the sleeve opening.
Ch 33, work 10 sc, 22 hdc. Join to sleeve opening using 2 slip sts along the edge. Ch 1, turn.
Work 22 SC 3rd Loop, followed by 10 SC blo, ch1, turn.
10sc blo, 22, hdc, 2 sl st.
Repeat all the way around. Slip stitch two edges together.
