Slowly completing this bag while coping with pain from a shoulder injury to my dominant side. Not sure it will be done anytime soon but it is definitely something to look forward to working on once my surgery is completed and I am on the road to recovery.

Surgery is now two days away. I made some nice progress on this bag early this morning and I only have to add the strap and make the bottom of the bag. If I can finish this up before my surgery, maybe I’ll be able to line it while I am recovering at home for the next six weeks. Time to break out the sewing machine!

For the final edge of the bag I added a round of reverse single crochet (crab stitch) to give it a nice finished look.

Bag base: foundation sc 51 sts. Ch1. Working back and forth in rows sc/dc, skip st for 6 rows. Then, at end of 6th row, turn work 90 degrees and sl st along short edge for 6 sts.

Turn your piece 90 degrees and work along the opposite (long) edge of your foundation sc row as you did before. This will make it so you have a total of 12 rows in the pattern stitch, which is symmetrical on each side of the foundation row. At the end of the last row, do not cut yarn. Continue to work around your base in sc sts, placing 12 sc along each short edge and 51 sts along each long edge. This will give you the correct number of sts (126) to join your base to the main part of your bag.

All finished. Just need to line with fabric and add my buttons. Very happy!
