Next to the left and right end needles of the pattern, I added two more needles (bb and fb) on fb with their pushers, left against needle rule. Then I isolated these two extra pairs of needles using isolation pins. These needles tuck and knit every 2 rows, as they only react to the N / AX left arrow setting of the locks, but not to the punchcard pattern - at least this is what I assume..
The result is a nice firm, a bit wavy border without the partly open stitches which I get when I do not use extra needles with isolation pins.

Started and finished a white scarf with this pattern today, pattern 1230 rows = 164 cm, 32:32 needles = 18 cm
knitted with Deco and motor without any problems.

Knitted three more of those. Ideal thread is 2 ends of 30/2 cotton/poly in 50:50 mixture
not itchy but soft, lightweight

Today a scarf with pattern 48, page 17, purple stitch booklet 1, 1280 rows in pattern, the punchcard saved me 160 stops and setting the frontlock.
SS 5, mixture of 1 thread 28/2 and 1 thread 1250m / 100 Gram, both new wool/ polyacryl 50:50 mixture.
