1/9/11 Blocking!
12/17 Sleeves do not equal love.
12/12 Purchased buttons. The fabric store (of course) has a very limited number of choices with enough of the same button to work. I ended up having to re-distribute so there will be 10 buttons instead of 11. 1 3/4 sleeves & 1 buttonhole band left to go!
12/11 Knitting button bands. Only completed one ruffle section on the bottom edge, as I didn’t want it to be too long. After 3 tries to get it right, I picked up 2 sts for every 3 for the bands. The usual 3 of 4 was making the band too long & it was rippling. Much happier with this ratio. 98 sts total picked up. Knit 8 rows of garter & c/o in purl (rs).
12/3 Split for arms-- added 3 sts for 12 c/o under each arm. Will not increase 2 sts after 2” as per the pattern, but will add waist shaping. Following mods so sweater ends up like this one.
11/28 Yoke finished! Somehow I ended up with one fewer stitch than necessary, so I centered a m1 at the back where it won’t be noticeable. Also added 3 short rows so it won’t dip down in the back so much. I think this yarn may finally have found its pattern! :) Now the stockinette marathon begins!
11/26 OMG-- this is the never ending yoke! I’m on the first purl row of 360 stitches. That’s a lot of purls!!!
This will be the third try with this yarn. The first
sweater was completed, but I didn’t like the way it fit, so it was frogged. Then I tried to to knit a sweater with a bunch of twisted stitches in it & an attached button band. Didn’t even finish the body. I’m hoping this pattern will work. Will alternate the skeins because of dying issues in this yarn. May do the puff sleeves as in this: eponymous
