Use 2 circular needles, join for working in the round. 4sts each on two needles. Mark the beginning of round on the first stitch.
Chart A
row1 1st needle:(yo, k)×3, yo,k
2nd needle: Repeat the 1st needle
row2& all even rows: k 1 round
row3, 1st needle:(yo,k)×7, yo,k
2nd needle: Repeat the 1st needle
row5, 1st needle: yo, k2tog, (k,yo)×2, k, ssk,yo, K , yo, k2tog, (k,yo)×2, k, ssk,yo, K
2nd needle: Repeat the 1st needle
Mark K sts on both needles to makes knitting easier. It’s “center stitch” in original pattern.
Now there are 4 “center stitches” , which are the corners of the square shawl.
In the same way, skip “Sl, k2” at the beginning of the row and “k3” at the end of the row, add K1 at the end, and continue knitting according to the pattern.
Change to single circular needle when you have enough stitches.
◼️How many times should Chart A be repeated?
When you finish the 16th row of Chart A, count the number of leaves between “center stitch” on your needle. The number of perfectly formed leaves. If the number is odd greater than 7, you can move on to Chart B.
The number of repeats in Chart A can be counted by the number of leaves in a row between “center stitch” on the needle, or by the number of leaves aligned vertically from the center. “Number of leaves minus 1” is the number of times Chart A was repeated.
Why does this happen? The first leaf in the center corresponds to rows 1-8 of Chart A. 40 stitch increments in triangle shawl= 80 stitch increments in square shawl.
If you knit an even number of repeats of Chart A before moving on to Chart B, you will end up with an odd number of leaves.
