I got the idea for this from the pattern braided ball.

I used small amounts of worsted weight cotton yarn, approximately 40 gms. in all.

Crochet 6 tubes, made up of 8 sc sts, to a length of about 8 1/4 inches. Braid according to the instructions from the pattern. You can make a bigger or smaller ball…using approx. measurement of width x 8 = length of each crocheted tube. The length would approximate the circumference of the ball.

Variation of tube (untested) - ch 36, skip 1 ch, sc in next 35 ch, turn, ch 1, sc in 35 ch. fasten off. make another one. join 2 strips together with one row of sc on each side, using contrasting color.
