Lots of first here-- first time knitting a shawl, first time using lace yarn, first time knitting nupps. I am planning to send this to my mom for her birthday next month and I hope I finish in time. I just received my yarn today and am knitting my gauge swatch right now.

After a number of failed tries with garter stitch tab owing to the thinness of the yarn, I settled for the ordinary cast-on. I had to frog a couple of times before getting that aha moment. At first, I stuck with the written instructions and ignored the chart but eventually I realized it was much clearer with the chart. I put markers as advised.

Finished binding off and currently blocking.
Summary:
Pattern was easy to understand including the chart.
Nupps are challenging the first time but get easy once you get the hang of it.
Most challenging part is maintaining correct stitch counts. It’s unbelievable how easy it is to make mistakes from the simplest of stitches. The trick is to use markers for the repeats, count the knitted row, count again while purling.
I will definitely make another one. This time I won’t be under time pressure so it will be more enjoyable.
As for the yarn, this is my first encounter with the Malabrigo lace yarn. What a pleasure to knit. No splitting, frogs well. The color applewood is a beautiful blush shade.
I still had some leftovers from one skein.
I used size 4 circular needle for the shawl and size 6 to bind off.
