1/17: Finished gauge swatch, had to go up a size as usual to get 5.75 sts per inch.
2/3: Completed 3 decreases, one more to go. When I picked up from the bind off edge, I accidentally picked up half of the braid- So I got a straight line edge instead of the braided edge. But I still like it!
2/17: Worked to 14.5” to underarm, so finished it will measure 15.5”. Careful when binding off stitches - you have to knit the number of stitches it tells you - then work another 2 stitches before you pass them over to bind off. Just make sure to count how many you need for the fronts and back, and you should be fine.
3/2: WAHHHHH Very sad about my dye lot line (see photo #7) :(
Done with the body, onto the sleeves. Note: I noticed that there were 2 instances where you end up on the RS when you should end on the WS. In these cases, I just purled an extra row to start the decreases on the appropriate RS row. No big deal.
On the sleeves, I am knitting them with the magic loop. Also, I don’t know why they have you cast on an odd amount of stitches for the ribbing when it should be an even #. So I cast on 48 stitches, and increased to 49 on the first knit row. Also joined in the round for the ribbing, and cast off in the round, as I don’t see the point in knitting it flat and seaming it later.
3/13: Starting the shawl collar!!! I might actually finish this sweater, yahoo! Note: Read errata before beginning the collar otherwise you will end up ripping it out after the fact like I did.
Ugh, followed the directions for the shawl collar exactly (picked up 3 stitches for every 4 rows) and STILL came out uneven, too short. So I just fudged it- picked up extra stitches to fill in the gaps. I know, I know - but what’s a sweater without secret mistakes…
3/17: Done!! Blocking!!!
