My niece asked for a home-made chocolate brown arm-knit blanket for her dorm room for Christmas, so of course, I got to work on planning this for her.
I found a couple of patterns on here for a super bulky arm-knit blanket. One called for about 275 yards, and the other called for about 75-80 yards. Because this particular super bulky yarn was really expensive (over $30 a skein), I was hoping I could make the smaller yardage pattern work.
I ordered 2 skeins (72 yards). The smaller yardage pattern said to cast on 18 stitches, but I quickly realized that there was no way I could get that many stitches up my arm with as bulky as this particular yarn was. So I cut that back to 12 stitches and that worked pretty well.
I kind of wish I had ordered a third skein so I could have made it longer (and at least cover her twin bed), but she was very excited and happy with it being a lap blanket.
