Notes

Update after a few washes and wears: this is my favorite pair of socks so far. They fit so nicely and are super comfortable when I need to be on my feet all day. I definitely like the gauge I was able to get, and the heel fits perfectly. This yarn is so squishy and soft, and the colorway is beautiful and I love it! Definitely will buy WSK yarns again. Very happy with how these came out. (And I’m glad the socks are a bit tight to get on, they stay up without slouching as the yarn relaxes while they’re worn throughout the day.)

My camera doesn’t capture blues and greens well, so I had a hard time getting a good photo of these socks.

Socks are done! To be honest, the legs are tight and I can barely get them on over the widest part of my feet, but once I do, they fit so very well. (Funny thing is, I tried them on with one inch left to knit, and they fit fine then! My bind off is very loose so I don’t feel like that is it.) The heel is perfect. Next time I think I’ll just keep a few extra stitches in the legs, or increase back up a bit after the heel. I must really have a high instep!?!

Heels are completed and fit great after the addition of the mini-gusset! I decreased my four stitches back out during the first inch of the legs.

Started heels - 11 twin stitches. I worked two of my gusset stitches in with the heel and left two unworked as part of the instep. This gave me just a teensy bit more wiggle room in the heel, and extra circumference at the widest point of the sock, which ended up being perfect.

Added a total of four stitches, one on each end of each needle, for a mini-gusset. Knitting this even (68 stitches) to the point where I’ll begin the heel again.

Frogged back to the first row of the fifth pattern repeat, where I will add in some gusset increases. (This is one inch before the heel begins.)

I decided to go ahead and knit the last inch of the heel before making a decision about whether or not this sock is fitting quite right. The heel’s fit seems good, the length of the foot seems correct, but the instep is quite tight. It’s wearable, and I’d probably leave it alone if it weren’t fancy sock yarn that I love. I think that I’d rather have them fit right even if it means ripping a bit back, so I will rip them back, add a few gusset stitches, and try the heels again.

The feet of both socks are completed, and one heel is done. But, does it fit right? It seems like it doesn’t quite come high enough up the back of my heel. This is sort of similar to how my Rainbow Socks turned out. They do fit, but are very snug, and I’m not sure that’s quite how they’re supposed to be. So I have asked in the designer’s forum and will see what the people there have to say before moving forward…

Sock #1 has the toe plus two pattern repeats done. Decided to start sock #2 and catch it up to #1. LOVE how this pattern is coming along!

Increase toe to 64 stitches. Start chart on row immediately after last increase.

Making these socks toe-up. Used JMCO (12 st.) Planning on substituting the Fish Lips Kiss heel for the pattern’s heel.
Gauge: 9.5 spi

This is the perfect yarn for this pattern! Love it! The colors are even better in real life.
