first project of the year; let’s hope i get it right. of course i’d have to do one that requires math right off the bat. -_- am using worsted weight to work up a bulky piece. crossing my fingers and casting on 91 using cable cast on…

01.08.12 - 91 is the magic number. my gauge is spot on to the yarn label (20 st = 4 in) but using size 9s. knit up the yoke as per instructions (but did 11 twisted rib rows per section) using size 8s for the first twisted rib then switched to 9s for the remaining 2 twisted rib sections and the body.

cast off for sleeves thusly: k40, BO40, k74, BO40, k40. then cast on 5, tried it on, too small. so cast on 15 (yeah, i know. big jump) and that was better. a bit snug but manageable. if i were to do this over with this gauge, i’d cast on maybe 20 stitches under the arm? i curse my big arms!

only did one buttonhole. shoulda done 3 like others. also, shoulda knit up 9 rows of garter at the beginning to match the border down the fronts. right now, it’s a tad bit too skinny. oh, well.

am planning on knitting the body - no shaping - until i run out of my third skein of yarn then will see if i wanna do sleeves. this yarn is a bit thin and i may just do sleeves when i knit up my bulky version; i hate thin sleeves on sweaters - they show all the wrinkles of the shirt you’re wearing underneath.

need to find a cute button. after having perused everyone’s versions, i’m realizing that the right button makes the cardi a make it or break it item…

01.12.12 - done but am debating if i wanna do sleeves and applied icord on the edging of the fronts because they’re curling. had this same problem, even with the garter stitch edge, with my other cardi and i did fix that one with icord but it was a pain. maybe after i block it? it’s soaking right now and we’ll see how it all pans out. i think i like it.

10.2012 - decided it looked better on lorelei so gifted it to her. will think of making myself another one later…
