Notes

11-14-11 IT IS GheartsOheartsRheartsGheartsEheartsOheartsUheartsS - worth every $$$

A new knitting friend nick-named my wrap “Scrumptious” when I dropped it into her lap :-) It has become my constant companion since the weather turned cold.

08-14-11 Top 2 photographs taken at Mrs. Richter’s Garden (corner of Eustis & Old Beach Road, Newport, RI - it was 90+ degrees, but there was a wonderful sea breeze :-)

I used colors A (Hurricane) and H (Trance) instead of A & D for my crocheted edges. Had no problems crocheting two rows of single crochet around edges. Be sure same number of single crochets along cast on and cast off edges - on first single crochet row of cast on edge of wrap, I had 78 single crochets between triple crochet corners and made sure my other end had 78 single crochets between corners. This sets up the openings nicely for the fringe. Following color sequencing, I added 41 fringe (every other opening).

I lightly pressed crocheted edges with mildly warm iron using one of my husbands handkerchiefs as a damp press cloth.

08-11-11 Midnight and I finished knitting … will post more pictures after crocheting edge and adding fringe. My husband says I am obsessed ! ! !

FINALLY bound off on row 95 of third repeat :-) Went up to size 8 needle to bind off. My wrap measures approximately 74” without fringe.

08-10-11 Knit up to row 64 of third repeat - my wrap measures about 70 inches. I’ve decided to stop on row 95 (a total of 467 rows) for color reasons and as my wrap will then be appoximately 74 inches. Adding fringe, my wrap will be another 18 inches long (twice the half of 19 3/4 inch length of fringe on both ends) for a total length of 92-94 inches. HOW LUSH ! ! !

08-09-11 Finished knitting second repeat. After much consideration and viewing other Ravelry projects, I’ve decided to knit my wrap longer ;-)

08-08-11 Knit up to row 160 of second repeat.
08-04-11 Knit up to row 81 of second repeat.
08-03-11 Knit up to row 50 of second repeat.
08-02-11 Finished first repeat of 186 rows. Wrap measures approximately 29 1/4”.
08-01-11 Knit up to row 137 today. Wrap measures approximately 21”.
07-31-11 Knit up to row 97.
07-30-11 Knit up to row 63. When switching colors, have to pay attention and track whether on a purl or knit row.

After trying various techniques, including Russian, decided to sew loose ends along selvedge edge (much like quilting) and not into the knitted rows to avoid bulk. (Also best not to tie knots when changing colors). “Quilting” loose ends sets up the selvedge edge nicely for crocheted edge.

Found this great blog on how to knit loose ends when changing colors, but did not end up using it because I did not want to add bulk to the selvedge edge: http://sockpr0n.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-to-weave-in-ends...

Was hoping to “carry” the yarn between rows along the edge instead of cutting and weaving so many ends - occasionally able to carry color G (589 Lilac Taupe) and a few others at times, but carrying most of the yarn just doesn’t work.

07-29-11 No knitting today, but my husband executed my interior design for my box of yarn - the list helps too :-)

Expect Color C “Elegance” to arrive today - the last ball of yarn which is discontinued and I bought from a new Ravelry friend.

07-28-11 SO EXCITED - got the book today and almost all of the yarn yesterday! ! ALWAYS LOVE knitting with Rowan Kidsilk Haze - cast on 105 stitches (instead of 115) and knit the first 14 rows holding 2 strands of different colors - this blending is AMAZING - ! ! ! !

07-22-11 Also viewed every Ravelry knitter’s Earth Stripe Wrap and learned to order 3 balls of Majestic instead of only 2. (Had to get a 4th ball because I needed it for the fringe ;-)

Major SPLURGE day for me … bought the pattern/book and had to buy the yarn before all the colors become discontinued. Three are already discontinued, but Googled and found them :-)
