11/22/14 (evening): I’ve finished them, and I love them! I made one in crochet following the same concept. I love how they both look. For the crocheted version, I used the same yarn.

Hook size: G (4.0 mm)

Ch 27
sc in 2nd ch, sc across to end (26 sts)
ch1, sc in each st to end, turn (26 sts)
Rep last row 4 more times; break yarn
Reattach to 11th stitch with standing sc, sc in next 5 sts, turn (6 sts)
ch1, sc in each st to end, turn (6 sts)
Rep last row 8 more times; break yarn

Finishing: Seam on wrong side. Whipstitch sides of rows with tops of rows, making sure to use the loop closest to the wrong side, not both loops (loops are only on tops of rows).
