I’m really happy with how this sweater turned out! It fits my 18-month-old perfectly right now. Hopefully he can get a couple months’ more wear out of it before he gets too big for it.

I used size 9 needles for the body and sleeves and size 8 needles for the ribbing. My gauge with size 9 needles is 17 sts = 4 inches.

I made some changes based on caitlinestelle's modifications for size 2T.

Notes on the body:

Cast on 40 sts. Row 1: sl1, k4, pm, k7, pm, k16, pm, k7, pm, k5.

Repeated rows 2 and 13 seven times more (instead of 3(4) times more), giving a yoke height of 5 inches. I didn’t do any st st before putting the sleeve sts on holders.

I worked until the sweater was 7” from the underarm. I ended with 9 rows of 1x1 ribbing (inspired by unraveledcat), then I bound off.

Notes on the sleeves:

I picked up 3 extra sts at the armhole, giving a total of 36 sts. I knitted straight for 6”, decreased one ssk at the beginning of the row and one k2tog 4 sts before the end of the row. I knitted 4 more rows, then did another set of ssk/k2tog decreases (32 sts total). Then I knitted until the sleeve was 8” long. I finished with 9 rows of 1x1 rib, followed by binding off.

Notes on the collar:

After picking up stitches along the edges and neck as directed in the pattern, I had 115 sts. I placed a marker at 28 sts from the bottom and wrapped 5 times on each side, instead of 4. For the button holes, I knit to 24 sts from the bottom, then did (k2tog, yo, k4 in rib pattern) four times.

I initially used 1/2” buttons, but the sweater kept popping open, so I switched to 3/4” buttons.
