This was my first time with brioche, and it took me a few tries to get it right, but I love the finished product. So cozy!

CO 60 sts for hat to fit 4-year-old. Used long-tail (one-color) cast on, because the two-color cast on wasn’t stretchy enough, even going up two needle sizes.

Switched brioche sequence every 7 rows. Started decreases when hat was a little over 7 inches long. I think I misunderstood the decrease directions, because the colors got switched whenever I did the 3-stitch decrease. But it still looks fine, and it’s mostly hidden by the pom pom.

This snugly fits an adult head and fits my 4-year-old with a little more room to grow, but it’s not quite long enough to fold up the bottom. If I did this again, I’d make the first brioche sequence ~11 rows long, and I’d work until the hat was about 7.5 inches long.
