I FINALLY put a border on this. It hasn’t been in my possession for 2 years when I gave it to my mother as a gift when I was home visiting. Tried and tried to put a border on while there, but it didn’t happen. It’s now done - a simple 4 stitch applied i-cord. Took a lot longer than I thought and well, not totally happy with it, but it is done.
So far not entirely happy with my first selections of yarn - they’re darker and muddier than I thought (that’s what happens when you have to mail order). More on order to brighten it up.

Actually decided to experiment with a slightly larger hexagon - 16 sts per side vs 14 - and it looks loads better so I started over. I’ve made really good progress catching up considering how long it took me to do the first three rings. I’m nearly done with the 4th ring in just a weeks time! Also picked up the stitches differently and it looks loads better - not so messy and bulky so definitely worth the ripping. If I can stay on task I should be able to complete this by the end of November.

I finished all the hexagons and squared off the blanket on Tuesday (9 Dec) and washed it. Because it’s a gift and I’m flying out on Monday, I’ll take the blanket with me to complete.
The pattern has funky instructions for the partial hexagons (not the half ones, but I didn’t really look at those anyway so maybe they’re also funky) so I got some help on the forums and the result is so much nicer.
This project is in California and still needs an edge. California is about 6,000 miles from where I sit right now so it’s going into hibernation until I’m there again. It came out so well so I felt pretty disappointed to leave it behind unfinished. (I made several attempts to put the edge on and it just wasn’t happening.) It did take the knitting out of me and I barely knit for 5 months after this!
