Started with an H hook, but changed to I after I decided the hat may be to small for the child I’m making it for.

This one seems very tall. I made it to the 7.5” height for preschool age, but it could have been shorter by a half inch or more. Using 4 increase rows in the brim made it very ruffly, so I just used one each time (twice) and then all of the no increase rows (total of 7 hdc rows), along with the one row of sc trim. I did try to shape it a bit in the front after it was done. Didn’t work as well as I would like.

Caron One Pound yarn is very stiff and good to use for this type of project. I used the Buff Super Saver for the band and edge trim. The yarn is stiff until washed and dried with a dryer sheet. Then the hat loses its shape!
