Redid to make more like the cheerleader outfit for length and to use straps. I got enough D rings to use as fasteners on the neck strap, as well as the belly strap. I checked out a video about how the D rings work.

Had to take off wings to remove a stripe of yellow and one of black to get length to work for Lexi. Remade neck straps and sewed wings back on.

For the wings I held 2 strands of Glamour yarn together to make size of worsted. Since I did not have the chenille stems to hold their shape, I added #10 craft wire in a row of sc around the edges.

Made first part of headband by pattern. Dec’d with black yarn on each end of striped rectangle, ch’d about 40 and sc’d in each ch. Folded rectangle together on back and sewed together to make narrower. Lexi has long dangly ears, and ear flaps would not work for her.

Did not get chenille stems, so crocheted antennae (got ideas from other patterns), starting with magic circle, 6 sc; 2 sc in each st; 1 sc in each st; dec 6 times; dec, sc, dec, sc; sc around multiple times to make stem. Because they did not stay standing well at first, I removed them and stuffed the stem sections with fiberfill so they would stand straighter. Then sewed them back onto headband. Use of a stuffing stick tool that came in a large package of fiberfill helps, especially in tight spaces like these antenna stems.

After I got D rings, I found my straps were a bit wide and took off a row or two. Straps made with short rows of 3 sc work, and those with 3 rows of sc’s running the length of the strap work with 1” D rings.
