I’m using the first few rows of the Lunar Crossings Poncho as the start for this poncho but with worsted instead of DK weight yarn, using the same initial ch count and the same size hook but using 3 chs at point instead of 2.
I decided I did not like the look of the poncho if I quit doing increases on the shoulder sides as directed by the Easy-Crochet Poncho pattern, so am continuing to increase at all 4 corners. For the 3 sc rows I put 2 sc’s in each corner space instead of 4.
Had a bit of trouble with the instructions for the star. I ended with a magic circle for the 4 shorter points and one for the 4 longer points. I used worsted yarn instead of thread and a G hook and made the shorter points according to pattern instructions with 2 of the longer points the same as the longer points in pattern and 2 the same as the longer with 2 stitches left out on each side of the point. I tightened each magic circle and sewed together each set of 4 points, then sewed those 2 together with the shorter points on the back to make an 8 point star similar to the Captain Marvel star--https://www.myc.com.my/articles/view/580. Put a row of sc in black around the star. Pinned star onto poncho and sewed around edges with black yarn.
Did 7 rows dc in red, 2 rows dc in gold, 13 rows dc in royal, and 3 rows sc in black. Crocheted 1 row sc in red around neck edge and 1 row sc in royal around bottom edge. Poncho is about 16” from neck edge to bottom edge.
NOTE: Because of the skewing of the finished product, especially the points, due to not turning at the ends of the rows, I would turn at the end of each row if I were to make this again.
