Notes

My daughter wants the top of the bed to be light purple and the bottom darker.

Finished all the crocheting. Will sew together after I receive and cut the foam. Because I knew I would be making several round ones, I ordered a 1” thick sheet for the headboards and a 3” thick one for the bases, as 4 bases can be made from one 3” sheet.

I didn’t have a bread or electric knife so got a serrated foam cutter tool from Joanns, but it turned out to be for styrofoam. I used it, but made rough edges with it. I used the first round piece to mark the circle with a Sharpie, making it about 1/4” larger than the crochet. Same with back of headboard. I found that cutting the foam pieces a little larger than the crochet pieces works better for me. Stretching the crochet over it makes it look nicer than the rough edges of the cut foam would seem to predict. lol

I decided that 5 rows of the skirt were enough, as they would touch the floor at that length.

Had to redo back of headboard crochet. It was too crooked for me to figure a way to fix it without redoing. I began to check side evenness by folding the piece in the middle every row or two.

For the headboard I had some trouble with easing the two-row strip onto the back per instructions, so I crocheted a row of dc directly onto the back and did another row with some dc decreases added in. That made it simpler to sew the smaller edge to the front. I sewed the bottom of the headboard together before sewing it to the base. I made a stitch per stitch around the outside edge and around the front points. It was held securely that way without sewing the inside edge. I tacked the pillows to the headboard per instructions.
