I don’t use eyes and leave out 5 or more rows in the height of the hats, as they can be very tall.

Left out 1 repeat each set of 3 rows. Stopped increasing with 60 stitches. Used all hdc’s except final row of sc. 25 rows

Did the ears the same as pattern till Row 5. Row 5: Did one dc and sc the rest of the row. For Row 6 I did all fpdc, and added Row 7 of sc’s to join the tops of Rows 5 and 6. I sewed the v shape at the bottom of the ear nearly closed and placed the ears by folding the bottom of the hat with center front and center back together in the middle and put ears on each side. After headband was attached, I tacked the ears so the tops would stick up over the headband.

Headband is two rows of hdc. I sewed top and bottom edges to hat to keep it in place, covering bottom of “hair.” Middle flower has 6 petals: magic circle, 6 hdc; next row: ch 3, 2 trc, ch 3, sl st all in same st equals one petal. Smaller flowers have 5 petals: magic circle, 5 sc; next row: ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st all in same stitch equals one petal.

Decided to use shorter pieces for hair, as the longer ones are more difficult to manage. Instead of 12” ones I used 9” pieces.
