Took off about 5 rows of hdc stitches to decrease hat height, which makes a total of 30 rows.

Still don’t really like cutting, attaching and deconstructing the yarn, but this time I worked a row at a time, cutting, attaching, separating out the strands, and brushing. It helped me to do it this way, just a row at a time.

My daughter wanted a troll hat done in Bright Mix. Since the skeins of variegated are smaller and it takes a full skein of solid yarn for the troll hat, I used Turqua for the base hat and Bright Mix for the hair. She wanted the headband done in Bright Mix (ch base number, join with sl st, sc in each ch, join with sl st, ch 1, turn, sc in each sc) and the flowers in Pretty N Pink (6 hdc in magic circle, join with sl st, ch 4, trc, trc, ch 4, sl st in same st, sl st in next st, sl st in next st); the middle flower is smaller because I ran out of the pink yarn. I made the leaves in Glowworm (6 hdc in magic circle, join with sl st, ch 6, sc in 3rd chain for picot, sc in each of the next 3 chains, sl st in same st, sl st in next st, sl st in next st).

I used rounded ears again, adding a row of hdc’s without increasing after the last round row of the pattern. I sewed the bottoms together for about an inch before attaching to the hat. I tacked down the ears and headband, sewing with yarn and a yarn needle.
