Yarn held double, therefore huge meterages, where in fact there’s only half of the yardage, i.e. 1016 metres.
Yarn usage:
Colour A: Antique 89 grams (356 metres, as yarn held double)
Colour B: Retro 59 grams (236 metres)
Colour C: Quaint 68 grams (272 metres)
Colour D: Dove Grey from Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace 39 grams (152 metres)
I wanted a bit of a vintage look to it, so I chose colours I don’t usually knit. So far it looks a bit like baby pink with cerulean blue. I hope that will even out when adding the Quaint.
Clue 1:
Very straight forward knit. Fine Lace makes for a rather delicate fabric, even when held double. Might be smaler than other doodlers, although I shouldn’t count my coins until it’s done.
Hid colour B in the i-cord as many others. In the bigger wedges this has to be straightened in order not to make the i-cord pucker. In the first wedge I forgot to make the yo k2tog. It doesn’t show.
Bigger wedges rather boring to knit, I try to knit them in one go, so I can go on to more interesting realms.
Colour A: 89 grams
Colour B: 9 grams
Clue 2:
Colour B: 36 grams
Clue 3:
Made three wedges and in between three plain ridges alternating Dove Grey and Retro
First Wedge: Colour C 21 grams
Dove Grey 10 grams
Retro 5 grams
Second Wedge: Colour C 21 grams
Dove Grey 12 grams
Retro 9 grams
Third Wedge: Colour C 21 grams
Not enough yarn for wedge 4, so I travel on to
Clue 4:
Chose option 3 and made the last three ridges again alternating Dove Grey and Retro, which gives the whole thing a nice finish.
Dove Grey 17 grams
Retro not sure, since the total of this colour equals now 101 grams without this last ridge :) Seems my scale is not up to such precise measurements.
Picot edging:
Colour C: 5 grams
Picking up stitches: I took the big stitches on one needle and picked up stitches from the border with a second needle then alternately knitted from these two needles, always beginning and ending with the colour C stitch. This made it easier to pick up the right stitches from the border.
