5/19 Cast on using Emily Ocker’s crochet cast-on. Working on Chart B.
5/28 In the one-step-forward-two-steps-back category: I had completed Chart C and started Chart D (barely) when I felt something odd on the back of the work. Somehow I managed to hopelessly twist a stitch towards the beginning of Chart C. The quick fix didn’t work and I had to unravel all the way back to round 30. Sigh…working on round 45 again.
6/6 Starting round 76 (chart D). Bought the purple beads I need for the edging.
6/12 Finished Chart D. Halfway through the next set of increases (round 101). The shawl is approx. 20-inches in diameter so far and I’m still on skein #1. I’m going up one needle size (5 US) for Chart E
6/24 Starting round 115 using size 5US needles and almost to the end of skein #1. Based on my experience with Celestarium, skein #2 will take me to the edging.
7/8 Working on round 121. Progress has slowed due to Tour de Fleece and two projects that are due at the end of the month.
8/19 Starting round 151 of 158, only 7 more rounds before the border! I have purple 6/0 beads ready and I’ve knit a sample of the modified edging I plan on using. So ready to start the edging!
8/26 Finished chart E and the 4 setup rows for the edging. At the last minute, I decided to use amethyst magatama seed beads on each point of the edging. Waiting for my bead order to arrive so I can start the edging. Edging is a modified version of the Leaves of Grass border.
9/9 Completed 5.5 edging repeats of 58. I haven’t been able to spend much time on it as I have two quilts that must be completed ASAP.
10/28 Yes, I’m still working on this shawl. I am knitting edging repeat #19 again. Somewhere along the way I lost a stitch and had to pull out 22 rows to get back to the correct count. Sigh. My goal is to finish this by the end of the year.
11/15 Finished edging repeat #30 of 58 last night. I’m past the halfway point of the edging and am 85% done with the shawl. I’m getting there!
12/31 Finished the edging and grafted the edges. Ready to block!
