I’m usually very reluctant to start a project before I’ve finished knitting, because I always jinx it and have to frog… But, keeping my fingers crossed, this time maybe I’ll manage.
Mods, lots of mods:
-
There is no schematic drawing in the pattern which sent me into panic, because I have to upsize it significantly. So after much fretting I decided to keep it simple: started knitting from the top, aiming for a modified drop-sleeve / set-in sleeve fit instead of the kimono sleeve (since I have no idea how to resize that).

I’m adding a little bit of A-line from the waist down, increasing 2 stitches every 10 rounds. Hopefully that will accommodate our plentiful hips.

I’m thinking of adding longer sleeves IF I end up having enough yarn.
Keeping my fingers crossed, knocking on wood and making sacrificial offerings of multiple stitch markers to the knitting gods, that might be the first sweater I ever make!

Update: The parts this pattern describes have long been finished. Back and front, knit top-down, are ready. I’m now fighting the parts that I decided to knit differently, i.e. set-in sleeves; I still need to attach a collar and bottom ribbing.
I wish I had enough yarn and enough confidence to follow the pattern as written…

Frogged ;__; to reclaim yarn and try again.
The pattern itself is not at fault -- I have completed the parts covered by the pattern without issue. I had to frog because my modifications didn’t work.
