Notes

This clematis, Henryi (on the front of the bag) has just finished flowering on my fence and I can see it every day from my kitchen window. It was so stunning - how could you not try and create it? I took photos at different stages of flowering and noticed how the colours change with the age of the blooms. The clematis on the back of the bag is the Emperor, which is on the fence to the side of my kitchen. I have used a different clematis leaf as I was not very happy with the greens I had. I have wired the leaves and the petals on the back by threading beading wire through the crochet stitches. I am not sure how this will stand up to usage, but it seemed the right thing to do, as I wanted to re-create the twinning effect of the plant. Some of the petals on the front have small crocheted, padded, shapes underneath to make them stand out. I wanted to create very detailed centres so these were further embellished with freeform embroidery. Thanks for looking, hope you like it.
