02/05/2024 - my friend is turning 50 this year and she is a BIG Columbus Crew soccer fan. There happens to be a home Columbus Crew game on her birthday this year, so her husband made arrangement to do a birthday night of it. I’m going to make her a classic rib hat in the team colors as well.

04/20/2024 - I’m not really surprised by this based on what I have heard/read from other knitters, but the yarn has pilled as I have knit it. I will definitely need to de-fuzz it be gifting to my friend. That said, it is crazy soft and has been a pleasure to knit with.

NOTES

1. My yarn is a heavy DK and I am a tight knitter, so I am using a US 4 needle.
2. For my stripes, I knit 1” (8 rows for me) of MC, 3 rows CC, 2 rows MC, 3 rows of CC. I knit the first row of every color change to avoid the purl bumps showing.
3. I used this jogless stripe technique.
4. Once I got done with my stripes, I turned my work so when the brim is turned up it shows the ‘good’ stripes with the knit crown decreases.
5. I knit to 8 1/2”. but I think 9” would have allowed for a bit more room since the hat is a gift… note for next time ;P
6. For my CC yarn, I used 6 grams for my stripes and 16 grams in the pom pom.
