Notes

05/15/2024 - I’ve made this shawl before and love once it’s finished, it looks WAY more advanced than it actually is to knit. This time, I’m making it to be a cover-up for a sewn doll outfit. The completed outfit will be part of my 2024 Cincinnati Salvation Army Toy Shop Auxiliary donations.

NOTES

  1. I am using a DK weight yarn & US 7 needles. I did get quite a bit of growth when I steam blocked this which I expected since it is a mostly acrylic yarn. Before blocking, the straight garter edge of my shawl was 10” and after blocking was 12”.
  2. Since I am going to use this as a swimsuit cover-up, I wanted to add ties to the “waist” edge. After I was done with the body and border, I did 12” of a 3 stitch i-cord, then continued across the garter edge of the shawl with i-cord, then knit 12” of i-cord. I reference this video for how to pick up stitches while continuing the i-cord across the “waist”.
