When your kid wants to be Karl Marx for Book week, you make it happen. Isn’t he cute?
Used the ice river hat cast on numbers and decrease rate for Nat holding the wig - no lace pattern. Knit on with picked up stitches above the ear to make beard shape - ribbing across the moustache area and knitted in again to above other ear. Cast off 10 stitches in the middle after a few rows, to make space for mouth. Then cast on backward loop to put those stitches back on for beard ant other ear side. Knit beard in moss stitch to avoid curling up and to give texture. Shaped the beard edges a little with decreases at the end of every row after for inch or two were knit.
Used crochet hook and short lengths of yarn to build up hair across beard and wig area. Used a mix of grey left over yarn to add texture.
