I need and am working on to many things.
Started in Filatura superwash, but was not happy with the look or the feel. Did 3” rib and almost 2 chart repeats trying to force myself, but just couldn’t keep going. Loved the color, just not the yarn.
I decided to use Patons bulky. have a huge bag full. had bought to make a blanket, but did the blanket in black. :) and a lot of dye lots in there too. O, boy! Seems to be working out well so far. Feels good. didn’t want it so tweedy, but really the only yarn I have right now.
Mods:
These are all pretty simple mods when you have the pattern. It was just time consuming to know and measure and think about while doing.
Back: CO 99 sts and removed 11 b4body. 16” across back. went 14 ½” to underarm
Fronts: CO 51 and removed 6
Sleeves: CO 51 and removed 8
underarms were 8”
collar: 27sts for short row turn. did like 14 rows of 3 sts. added, then 12 rows of 4 added, 4 rows of 5 and ended with 2 rows of 6. I think I have that right. doesn’t really ,matter, less makes it larger and more between will make it a little shorter. next one will keep better chart so I know, but was having so many issues sometimes lost where I was. :(
But I love “My Brow Tweed sweater/Jacket”
Put one extra button hole in.
I did loose track of the dye lots because they matched so well.
Gauge:
US 8/500mm: 5sts/26 rows=4” (6.5 rows to the inch)
US 10/6.0mm: 4sts/24 rows=4” (6 rows to the inch)
615 rows towards 1million rows challenge.
back: dye lot# 213430 (have 6 skeins) used 2full skeins+ into the 3rd skein. will need the rest for the front.
Sept.29** 3” ribbing and 10 rows of chart.
Sept.30 uploaded pic. Yarn is darker brown than in pic. I like this much better. Feels good. Finished 1 chart.
A lot of purling in this sweater. Pattern knits along smoothly, once you get the idea. now if I only had more time.
Oct.1 Finished 1 full chart tonight. yeah. might be able to complete this month. I hope so.
Oct.2nd Finished another full chart tonight. Am at the arm holes. Hope to finish the back tomorrow. But grocery day on top of everything else. maybe, then again, maybe not. we’ll see.
Oct.3rd Didn’t quite finish the back today, but only 4” left. another day. :)
Oct.4 Back finished tonight and will co the sleeves tomorrow.
Sleeves will have to use dye lot# 245302 Have 3 skeins. closet in match. shrug… :)
Oct.5 Both sleeve cuffs at 3” and first 4 rows of est.pattern rows. was a little confusing, but I see now.
only 14” to go….:) lol
Starting the sleeves (doing at same time.)
Oct.6 sleeves on needles. finished 1 repeat each, and ofcourse the ribing is finished. measures @this point, 7”. A little ways to go yet.
Oct.7 :( had to rip down to the ribbing. Sleeve was going to be way to bih=g. There was a typo and was increasing double sts. Finallly figured it out.
Back on needles and now on row 7 of chart. Geeesh! At least it will fit now.
Set back, but what are you going to do. It happens,
Oct.8 All of the rows taken out are now back in, plus only had 4 more rows to complete another chart. Probably will only get 1 repeat done tomorrow. At least a little ahead now.
Oct.9 sleeve measures 15” now so 3” then shaping, and sleeves will be done. from pattern chart row 5 to next chart row 5 am using dyelot # 243249. is noticeable but not really. Have enough to do the front band and color with too, so should be ok. Will finish top of sleeve with first dyelot I started with. 245302
Should have given this a little more thought, but knit and learn.
Oct.10 No knitting time today. :(
Oct.11 No knitting time again today. !!!
Oct.12 just 6 rows left to finish sleeves. will do in the morning. Need to take last row out. forgot to cable. To close to the finish line, didn’t pay attention. Doesn’t pay to hurry.
NEXT time I will stop the bottom part of the sleeve 8 rows sooner. Sleeves are very long even for my lanky arms. Changed the cap dec’s to make armhole a little longer
Oct.13I think I am getting the bug. Nothing but pics. And they aren’t the greatest. Raining out so get shadows from the house.
Starting the fronts
Oct.14 Ribbing done and the first 2 rows of chart. Needed to go help youngest daughter learn her “new to me” sewing machine.
Oct.15 Just a half a chart done on both sleeves.
Oct.16 sick and sluggish today
Oct.17 Gas in side and sholder. soar throat. yuk
Oct.18 Not quite as bad.
Oct.19 Finished the chart today. Been sick all week with a gastric virus. Feeling more like myself today.
Maybe will get some progress tomorrow.
Oct.20 Am at the top shaping now. Not long for sleeves to be finished.
Oct.21 fronts just a few rows left to finished. ran out of yarn. using what was left from the back back. hooked in and did another row to be back on the front side/ will finish up in the morning. then to sew tog. HATE that part. 6 skeins so far.
Oct.22 wow oh wow… !!! went 3” to far. I am starting to get aggravated with this sweater. Going backwards tomorrow and figure out where I am again. so annoying. Pattern is not hard, just keep getting ahead of myself, trying to hurry and not double checking measurements on paper. Used my sleeve numbers in my head (which are longer) instead of the back measurements. I am starting to annoy myself.!
Oct.23 Well am back where I left off last night short a few rows. Fixed everything this morning, then tonight back to where I left off. working well. Should be done tomorrow. Great.
Oct.24 Just might get this done b4 the month is over. Hope so. Ready to seam together. can’t wait.
Oct.25 Shoulders and sleeves sewn. But oops…
Not sure how to do the short row numbers. Mine is 3” shorter than pattern. Wasn’t thinking of that. I think I might have it figured out, but I am not all that experienced with changing the numbers with the short rows. Darn it !!!!
Oct.26 nothing. Thinking how todo
Oct.27By George I think I’ve got it.. It seems to be working. Using tsk and tsp for wrap and turns.
Oct.29 finished except threads, pic and measuements b4 washed and after. Can’t wait to try it on. looks a little ugly on the hanger and not blocked out.
All threads in, buttons on going to wash in just a min. or two.
Had to take out sleeve and re-sew in,put in wrong side out !!! lol. Idk about me sometimes. geesh.
Next time: I could actually take an inch off the sleeves. I think I will go 16” to underarm for backs and fronts. Will see how much it gives after wash.
Daughter will be here and will get pics in the morning.
1st pic is closet to actual color
errata establish patten Page3, Sleeves in the first inc row says K1,M2 …. should read K1,M1 … I believe the pattern will be updated, but incase not and for me for my notes on pattern which does have the typo in it.
Doesn’t say what needles to do the front rib and collar in, but I picked up with size 7 needles (did not knit them) and worked them on size 8 needles.
