Went down a needle size without checking gauge. Mine is a little snug on my largish head. But the ribbing is a little loose. Used the Briar Heather for my ribbing, but made the cream my MC for the check pattern.

Love it! Yarn management was a bit of a bear, but maybe there is a trick to it.
