Tried this tank on when the shibui trunk show came to town and I liked it. Even though this one is seamed, its a simple tank and shape so I’ll move it to the head of the sweater list. I am going to combine Cima and Linen rather than using 2 strands of Linen.

Summary
-
I’m knitting the M size, but I’m using the length measurements for the S size. Not much of an adjustment, but it will have to do.
-
I ended up with 79 stitches before I completed the last increase. So, either I counted wrong somewhere or the pattern is wrong. Its not a big deal as I had 79 stitches at 16”, which was fine.
-
When I get to the start of neck, the pattern says to end with a RS row and then to start with a K36. If I do this, it will disrupt the icord edging -- I looked at pictures of the armhole front, and the Icord continues. A WS row needs to start with P3. So, I’m going to maintain the Icord and adjust accordingly. My WS row will start as follows: P3, K33 …..
-
I see no point in working both sides of the neckline simultaneously. If I do that I will have 8 balls to manage. So, I’m working them sequentially. I’ll still have 6 balls to manage.
-
My neckline started with 36 - 7 - 36 stitches. The decreases called for are 3,2,2,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 = 14 stitches decreased, resulting in 22 stitches in the arm, not the 24 specified. I will end with 22 stitches.
-
28 rows (nxt row starts shoulder decreases) knit to finish off neck shaping, left side.
-
Shoulder decreases are 6,6,6,4.
-
The directions for the side icords are different on the front and back. the directions for the front icord work; the back icord doesn’t. Since the back always calls for knitting the 3 icord stitches you need to always slip WYB.
-
I am knitting the back of the tank double throughout.
-
The back of the tank length is per pattern. I am going to reduce the height of the arms by 1/2” to account for the 1/2” decrease in overall length of the front.
-
The second armhole bindoff row does not include directions for the icord at the end of the row.

Stats of Trunk Show Sample
Stitch gauge: 16.5/4 in stockinette; 19.5 stitches / 4 in garter; 9” armhole height along front. Size was S. This sample has stretched out quite a bit.
Swatches
Swatch 1: Stockinette using 1 strand Shibui linen and 1 strand Shibui cima using US 7 (4.5mm) needles. Preblock Gauge: 22 stitches / 4”; 27 rows / 4”. I am going to soak this one and just lay it out, because of the cima. Post block gauge: 19 stitches / 4”; 29 rows / 4”.
Swatch 2: Stockinette using 2 strands of Shibui linen using US 7 (4.5 mm) needles. Preblock gauge: 21.5 / 4”; 26.5 rows / 4”. Post block gauge: 20 / 4”; 28 rows / 4”.
Swatch 3: Garter using 1 strand Shibui linen & 1 strand Shibui cima using US 7 (4.5mm) needles. No preblock gauge. Post block gauge: 20 stitches / 4”, 44 rows / 4”.
Swatch 4: Garter using 2 strans of Shibui linen US 7 (4.5mm) needles. Preblock gauge: 21.5/4”; 38 rows / 4”. Post block gauge: 23.5 stitches / 4”, xx rows / 4”. Hmm why did this one’s stitch gauge get tighter?
Results: I’m going to use the cima/linen swatches. 8.1 grams of cima used; 44.6 grams of linen used.
