I recently saw a sock pattern go by using a stars and stripe theme. It occurred to me that I could use the basics of Parrotweed to create asock for the presidential election. I hope to have this done before the California primary. I have created a couple of charts and have decided to go with the chart that allows me to create this sock the same way as Riversong; same total number of rows and same stitch repeat.
Summary
-
Needles used:
- Cuff: US 1.0 (2.25mm).
- Leg, (chart repeats=2): US 1.5 (2.5mm).
- Leg, change to US 1.0 on 3rd striped section
- Rest of sock on US 1.0
-
While my chart is a 20 row repeat like the pattern, my stripe section contains only 9 rows and my star stripe contains 11. This means that I’ll stop the final stripe round of the gusset with 4 rounds of the stripe section. This will give me the same number of leg rounds as I knit in Riversong.
-
Instead of a standard M1, I’m going to use the 2 row yarn over increase. I do the yarn over for my increase and then knit it through the back loop on the next round.
-
How I’m knitting a striped toe: KKD KKD KD KD KD KD KD (22 each side) DDDD (14 stitches each side) cut green and in brown one more D (12 stitches each side). Kitchener closed.
Journal
2016-05-20: I have 2 charts. I’ve decided to go for the 8 stitch repeat chart so I can more easily use Parrotweed. However, if I don’t like the stars, I’ll rip out and use the 12 stitch repeat chart.<p>
