For this special occasion, a present for my grandson’s 3rd birthday, I am breaking into my stash of 20 year old Classic Elite Tapestry. I have had most of it for nearly 20 years. What an excellent palette!
I decided these guys each merit their own project page. So, there are more views there--including being worn by 7-yr olds.

9/18--Triceratops is complete. Um. He doesn’t look much like a triceratops though. Steve thinks it looks like a piece of toast on his head. Sigh.
In case you’re wondering, this is sized for child’s hands--I’d say ages 3-7. With difficulty, an adult hand can be stuffed in. The cuff is worked with 28 stitches, on size 6 needles.

Lion came out rather cute. This is the first time I’ve done anything in a loop stitch. The mane worked out well in that.

T-Rex--The silly little “arms” are a hoot. But no way am I going to knit 6 stitches in the round and work short rows. So, after knitting the two short I-cords, I just knitted 6 stitch I-cords for the rest of the arms. You have to pull tight on the first stitch to make it work, but it basically works.
T-Rex came out totally cute. Great teeth. A little difficult to sew in place, but worth it.

Sea Monster’s antennae were a hoot to make! I decided that the top was a perfect place for another set of eyeballs. I had a little trouble with the placement of the gill frills. But I think they came out OK.

I decided to try an angler fish. I used the same basic mitten shape. For the angler arm, I did a 4 stitch I-cord, then increased for the lure. I reinforced the I-cord with chenille and put a bit of stuffing in the lure.
For the fins, I case on 23, p2, knit 5, across row, ending with a p2. Knit and purl stitches as they appear for 3 more rows. Then on row 5, p2, k2tog, k1, k2 together across row, ending k2. Row 6, knit and purl stitches as they appear. Row 7, p2, k3 tog across row, ending p2. Row 8, knit an purl stitches as the appear. Cast off.
For the eyes, I cast on 6 stitches, purled 1 row. Next row I, k1, make 1, knit to one stitch before end of row, make 1, knit one. Work 3 rows in stockinette. On next row, k1, SSK, knit to 2 stitches before the end, k2 tog, k1. Cast off on the purl side. I stitched the inner eye. Then I used one of the ends to catch an edge stitch all around, stuffing the ends of the yarns inside and cinched tight.
