Finding no knitting patterns for a kayak here on Rav, and because my granddaughter has requested a knitted kayak for a 5 inch stuffed animal (a wolverine) who apparently needs one, I am going to try to convert this peapod into a kayak. The wolverine says it wants a bright pink kayak. Sheepie is trying out the kayak, awaiting the arrival of Evelyn and her wolverine.

My mods: I knit 2 peapods, in this beefy worsted yarn--one on size 7 US and one on size 6. I followed the pattern through Row 12, which takes the stitch count to 15. I continued the same increases until I reached 33 stitches. For the middle section where there are no increases, I knit 36 rows instead of 18. After that, I followed the same pattern of two centered decreases on each right side row until I got down to 5 stitches and then I bound off. (Not working the rows of stockinette at the very end.)

I wet-blocked both pieces.

First I sewed the larger piece together into a kayak shape. Then I sewed the smaller piece together the same way--slipping the smaller one into the larger one to give the kayak more firmness. It wasn’t firm enough, so I added in some polyfill between the layers.

The paddle shaft is I-cord with a plastic straw stuffed inside.
