There are some unusual techniques in this wrap. The increase throughout is worked: “Angle the RH needle towards you so that WS of work is visible. Insert LH needle from the top down into the purl bump “head” of the st 2 rows below the first st on the RH needle. Lift this loop onto the LH needle and work it as K1.“ That’s a new one for me. It leans to the left, a little bit. I had to practice it. HINT: The purl bump 2 rows below is actually the purl bump closest to the needle.
There are only 2 cables in this wrap. Both require two cable needles. One is very easy. The other one is too, but at first it had me baffled and I worked it wrong. The photo you see at the bottom shows the “wrong” way closest to the cast on, and the “right” way is closest to the needle:
“Sl 3 sts to first CN and hold in back, sl next 3 sts onto second CN and hold in back, K3, move the first CN to the front, K3 from second CN, then K3 from the first CN.”
It was the “move” direction that had me baffled. I had worked the 3 knit stitches and had 2 cable needles in back, each holding 3 stitches. The “wrong” thing I did on the first cable was I tucked the first cable through the gap (under the needle). I was overthinking it. Just pull the first cable needle forward between the two needle points, hold it there while working the 3 stitches from the 2nd cable, and then work the stitches from the first cable needle. Duh!
Particularly through the middle section once the increases are completed, this is a very easy rhythmic knit.
