Using this pattern as an experiment in making a knitted soft bra, which I don’t usually wear but feel I ought to start using these days!!
I measure 48” under bust and it appears I’m a DD cup, will try the largest size first because wool……..tendencies…!!
Using fingering with 3.75mm needles and longtail CO
Single ribbing for 10 rows after co.
Next row begin with k for bust marker placement then rib the sts for the back throughout. Hoping the ribbing will be enough to hold the bra in place without elastic, will not be adding the material section as per the pattern.
Don’t like the pattern’s increases, leaves little holes ( which will open wider in use!!) using kfsb instead. Used a stretchy rib bind off for back section.
All going well, excellent easy to follow pattern :)
Up to first strap,13 sts on needle, I feel this will be too wide. Ribbed the next WS row and then decreased 1st ea side on the foll. RS row,11 sts. Continued ribbing by slipping the 1st st of every row and ending the row with 2 purls on the WS and 2 knits on the RS for a smooth edge to the strap.
All finished and it fits well( I won’t take a modelled photo - no one deserves to see that ) we’ll see if it will ‘grow’ in use!! May try another in a silk/cashmere blend and will probably widen the ribbing below the bust by another 6 rows and maybe try to make one in a laceweight if I can work out the maths!
A great pattern Carissa, thank you.
