Notes

Thus named because I really struggled making these!

2/6/12 Finished! Finally! After 11 months of knitting and re-knitting these beauties are done! They went out kicking and screaming though, the sole of the second was short ~6 stitches, so I had to Jerry-rig the toe decreases. However, after all is said and done, they really are quite beautiful. The pattern is well written, my reading of said pattern, is not. I’m sure that, along with inexperience, led for such a difficult knit.

10/31/11 Have I mentioned lately that I hate these socks?

6/8/11 Didn’t like the gusset, so I ripped back out to the heel flap. These socks are horrible misbehaving beasts and I’m putting them in TIME OUT! I’ll get to them later.

5/29/11 Trouble strikes again. As it turns out, I miscounted my stitches and as a result I did not complete enough decrease rounds on my gusset. I didn’t realize this until I was completing my toe decreases, and couldn’t figure out why one sock was gigantic! The sock is now ripped back out to the gusset.

5/13/11 These socks are never ending. I finally finished one sock! It’s great! The sock is a bit tough to get over my heel, I’m presuming this is because of switching YO for M1. I also had a slight problem with chart B. The very fist stitch of chart B is a k3tog, not a k2tog, which makes a BIG difference. I didn’t realize this until after I had just winged it and just kept knitting, so my right edge of my pattern on my foot is a bit iffy.. but no one will ever see that. I am through with 1.5 repeats on my second sock! Here’s to kicking SS Syndrome!

4/25/11 Ahh, so as it turns out, one of the stitches in the pattern is k3tog, not k2tog. This makes a big difference.

3/20/11 I’m almost done with one sock! Hooray! I’ve finally figured out the pattern and now things don’t seem so challenging. How ever, I have switched the YO for M1 and doing so makes the sock noticeably tighter. I do not have large legs, but this sock is incredibly tough to pull on.

3/14/11: Knit and turned the heel, but when I began the pattern on the instep the patterns didn’t match up. So, sigh I ripped it back out to the heel flap and I’m starting again!

3/9/11: When I thought things were easy, this sock laughed and became hard again. I don’t understand what is so difficult about what it is essentially a simple sock. It’s evil, I tell you. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it!

3/6/11: I think I’ve finally figured out this sock pattern. Finished one repeat of the cuff, and now I’m beginning to think the pattern really is easy. Torture at first, but smooth sailing later on.

3/4/11: I hate these socks. I just re-knitted 5 inches and tried it on! WAY to small! Couldn’t get the sock over my heel. Fingering on 1.5 = too small.

3/3/11: This sock is EVIL! I just knitted about 5 inches of the sock. After checking my stitch count I saw that I was missing 4 stitches… I ripped out a few rows and than I realized I have no idea how to figure out where in the pattern I was! So I had to rip back out to the cuff! AHHHH!
