I had this Hawthorne yarn caked up and ready to go and when I saw Nancy’s pattern, I knew it would be perfect for a pair of socks along with the Stroll I had set aside for a sweater which I didn’t end up making.

Lovely pattern and once the elongated stitch count is memorized, it’s easy to continue without following the pattern.

After watching my son put on his Christmas socks and how he pulls them up at the cuff, made me decide to make these socks without the slip stitch on the foot for two reasons:

1. I’m a tight knitter with slip stitches and
2. the yarn I chose (gray) is not as sturdy as the Hawthorne (black) or the Kroy yarn I use for his socks. So as to make these socks last longer, I’m keeping the foot vanilla.

Only when I uploaded photo here did I notice that I missed one repeat of slip stitches before the heel turn
