- Longtail CO 220 stitches on 6.0 mm, using both ends of the skein to avoid running out of tail (brilliant technique!!), for a stretchy edge.
- Switched to 5.0 mm needles for body. I don’t like the rolled stockinette edges on the original, so I skipped them. (Joke is on me - the edges roll anyway when I wear it).
- Knit until I couldn’t stand it anymore - 8.5 inches. I was aiming for 9 inches - the instructions state 11 inches but that seems too big on me.
- JSSBO to finish.
Unblocked - 8.5 inches x 23.5 inches (47 inch circumference).
After wet-blocking - 9 in. x 25 in. (50 in. circumference)
“Seam” - Tried the suggestion to avoid the noticeable vertical line from the stitch change by slipping the marker 1 stitch on each knit row. Instead I got a diagonal line. I think I would prefer it vertical. Next time - may try casting on an odd number of stitches

JSSBO - not entirely pleased with this bo on this project. Used it to avoild a tight edge and it worked, so that is good. But there is a strange “bumpiness” - uneven finish - with each stitch. Has never happened with this bo on other projects.
Eco Highland Duo SHEDS!!!! Very soft to work with but scratchy when I wear this, sigh. Hope both these problems are helped with a long soak.
I wanted to make a honey cowl for at least 5 years, so I am happy to have one finally.
Update - choosing a co-ordinating hat pattern was hard. It had to have some texture. I was going to knit the Fletcher hat with a 2 inch brim or River Edge but decided it was too matchy-matchy to use the exact same stitch - and possibly I was done with it after knitting 220 stitches x 80 rounds of it for the cowl. Rift fell into this group too. Beloved/aran would have worked. Contemporary or Latu or or Kernmantle or Molly or Dockside with the cable detail, would be nice. Bronntanus or Rainbow Trout or Honey or Kingsley, with the lattice or honeycomb detail would also work. Holt, Bubble or Dimple might have done and I like Tofty too. Finally decided on Snoqualmie, because I was intrigued by all of the different stitches.
Update - used leftover stash to make a Beloved/Aran hat to replace the Snoqualmie that shrank and felted in the laundry.
