Buttonhole edges on the fingers and thumbs are a little wonky because they were worked in 2 colours.
CO 44
Cuff - 3x1 rib x 26 rounds total, as follows:
MC x 10 rounds
CC alternating with MC x 5 rounds each
MC x 6 rounds
Hand - Increase to 56 stitches
Needle 1 (22 st. and 6 increases) - 3+3+3+4+3+3+3
Needle 2 and 3 (11 st. and 3 increases each)
Thumb gore - increase to 15 stitches between markings
- Before moving thumb st. to waste yarn - Knit 18 r. = 2.5 in.
- move 15 st. to waste yarn and CO 5 st. = 56 st. for hand
- continue hand to 4 in. before placing index finger st. on waste yarn (28 r.)
Thumb
- 15 st. on waste yarn
- pick up 8 st. = 23 st. for thumb
- work 11 rows then for buttonhole:
- BO 7 st. on palm side of thumb
- next row, CO 7 st. with backward loop = 23 st.
- work 2 rows
- work only 3 decrease rounds for rounder top
Index finger
- Before moving st. to waste yarn, knit 28 r. = 2 pattern repeats (4 “cubes”) = 4 in.
- move 18 st. to waste yarn (half from N1 and half from N2) and CO 3 st. = 41 st. for rest of hand
- finish hand
- pick up 3 st. = 21 st. for index finger
- work 12 r. then for buttonhole:
- BO 7 st. on palm side of finger
- next row - CO 7 st. on palm side with backward loop
- work 3 r. before starting decreases
- work only 3 decrease rounds for rounder top
Hand
- after 18 Index finger st. placed on waste yarn - Knit 15 r. = 6.5 in. before decreases
For rounded top:
Follow pattern and decrease at needles tips until 19 st. left.
K2tog all around.
10 st. remain.
NB - if no buttonholes
- thumb 15 r., then K2tog all around
- index finger 18 r., then K2tog all around
