Absolutely no way I’m going to be knitting this much colourwork flat! Have cast on in the round and we’ll see how it goes adapting the pattern for steeking arm and neck…

Finished body up to beginning of armscyes. Cast off 12 under each arm and on next row cast on 6 over cast offs to form 6 stitch columns for steeking later. Must remember for future steeked projects to put in an ODD number of steek stitches

I’ve finished the body. I put in 12 steek stitches over the neckline cast off. I will machine stitch the 3 steeks because a crochet steek, while usually my preferred method, would add bulk which I don’t want, especially around the sleeve seams where it would probably be uncomfortable.

Steeks machined and cut, body steam blocked and shoulders sewn together, so now it’s on to the sleeves. Have decided to work them in the round up to the decreases, and then change to working them in the flat from there to the shoulder. It’s only a few rows and I think it’d be more of a pain to continue in the round all the way up - especially since that would mean joining the steeked sleeves to the steeked armholes, which would be very bulky.

1st sleeve finished and sewn in. Knitting it was an absolute nightmare - I lost count of the number of times I got the colourwork wrong and had to tink back. However, the finish line is in sight and I like the look of the emerging garment enough to make this all worthwhile.

Neckline finished. It’ s beginning to look pretty!

Finished, blocked and photographed. This is a bit big for me and would look better with some waist shaping. Nevertheless, it’s pretty, the colours used in the original pattern work very well together and I think it was worth the effort of making it. Once.
