Notes

I think these pictures do not do justice to this stole. The combination of a perfectly written lace pattern and the wispy magic of Juno Fibre Arts Alice fingering yarn equals great delight.

I cannot recommend Dee O’Keefe’s pattern enough. A rectangular construction can lead to boredom at times but somehow with this stole I felt as though I was gently dancing with my circular needles! It’s ideal for novice lace knitters as the instructions are crystal clear and it’s a fabulous pattern for more experimented knitters who fancy something lighter to work through.

I am often guilty of not taking the time to swatch. With this pattern it is essential however: the cast-on and cast-off edges need to be worked with larger needles and must match in tension in order to obtain a beautifully scalloped edging when blocking. Don’t worry: this is very easy. If I managed it, anyone can!

I worked 27 repeats of the patterns instead of the stated 30.

This stole is a gift for a remarkable lady whom I have not yet met but whose artistic eye and courage never fail to inspire me. If you are not yet familiar with Madelief’s blog, do yourself a favour and take a look here.
