I was delighted to knit this new pattern from Georgie Hallam as a KAL with gingergooseberry I’ve been in awe of her prolific knitting and beautiful pictures for a while now. She’s also a lovely person too :-)
Georgie Hallam makes great patterns. Many of you are familiar with her Granny’s Favourite; a timeless piece which my daughter wears again and again. I remain confident that she will like Posy as much especially since it has been knitted in her favourite colour; Duck Egg Blue.
I was a little thwarted when first starting the diamond lace pattern of the main body. Please learn from my foolish error; before dividing for the sleeves each section of your lace knitting will start at a precise stitch number on the chart. Do NOT start knitting a diamond unless it can be entirely included within the stitch count specifications.
The yarn is heavenly; soft and silky. ( I’m so disappointed that Loop in London no longer stock June Fibre Art Alice DK.) The lace blocked perfectly too. If I am to make this again I will go down one needle size for a tighter knit.
If I look closely at Angélique’s Posy I can see the odd grain of glittery sand and wisps of dried grass. We were in Belle Ile en Mer, a beautiful island off the southern coast of Brittany, on holiday whilst I knitted this and I took it pretty much everywhere I went! It is, quite simply, full of happy memories.
