Dec. 1
Cast on 16, increased to 24.
26 plain knit rounds (approx. 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 inches) up to the hinge of my foot. Threaded a lifeline (orange) through the 26th row on the needles/cables.
Heel Set Up to make the math work for my 24 sts.
To center the 1/3 and 2/3 on the front and back needles I want to knit:
1/2 my stitches + ((1/2 my stitches - 1/3 my stitches)/2)
12 + ((12 - 8)/2)
12 + (4/2)
12 + 2
14
k14, place A, k8, place B, knit past C to A and stop.
Made a mistake with too many Thanks Ma’s and cannot for the life of me figure out how to TINK them. Ripping back to my lifeline and restarting from there.
Dec. 2
Not perfect. I missed the 2nd knit around round on the first wedge, missed a Thanks Ma on the 2nd wedge, and only had enough yarn (started with a full ball and that little remnant is all that was left) to do 1/2 (8 sts left in middle) the third wedge, BUT … I can do it now :)
Dec. 8
Completed 1 more in another wool yarn that is not as thick.
Judy’s Magic Cast On 16 (8/needle)
Knit one round even
Increased to 36 using M1F and M1B, 1 stitch away from the beginning and end of each needle with a plain round between each increase round
Knit even to foot hinge (6.5” 27 rows)
Lifeline (red) through 27th row on needles/cable
Heel Set Up
18 + ((18 - 12)/2)
18 + (6/2)
18 + 3
21
Made 2 full wedges and a partial with 12 sts left for the middle.
pic to come
Dec. 9
Same as Dec. 8th’s with these differences:
Reversed increases so that the M1B is the first and the M1F is the last increase on each needle
Lifeline (dark green)
For wedge, decided to try dividing by thirds of the heel stitches … so … 4 pair gaps, 8 sts middle (approx. 2 inches), 4 pair gaps.
Only made 2 full wedges.
Dec. 13
Cast on 12, increased to 24.
27 plain knit rounds (approx. 6 1/2 inches) up to the hinge of my foot. Threaded a lifeline (light green) through the 27th row on the needles/cables.
1 full wedge.
2nd full wedge - On the very last full round moved 2 sts from each end of the heel needle back to the instep needle before knitting them in an attempt to get less fabric in the area where my heel narrows as it comes up to my ankle.
3rd full wedge with the reduced sts.
