Modified pattern for larger needles and yarn:

CO 96sts.
Work [k3, p1, k1, p1] pattern until piece measures 7" from CO.
Work 12 sts, pm, [work 24 sts] 3 times
decr rnd: [Work to 3 sts before m, k3tog, sl m] 4 times
Repeat decr rnd every other rnd 4 more times -- 56 sts rem.
next rnd: [k2tog] -- 28 sts rem.
Break yarn and draw tail through rem sts.
Pull tight to gather sts and fasten off on WS.

If I try it again, I think I will work for 8 or so inches before decreasing. Then I will decrease some more before breaking the yarn…28 sts is too many to draw tight with this larger yarn.
